By The River Food Pantry Board of Directors
From its inception in November 2013, The River Bakery has provided job training in commercial baking to The River Food Pantry clients to help them become self-sufficient. However, The River Food Pantry Board has determined that continuing to run the bakery training program is not in our best financial interests and is refocusing on our core mission of feeding the hungry. We continue to celebrate the 18 trainees who completed the training program and subsequently secured employment, and their individual stories represent far more than the financial impact.
Although we are sad to see The River Bakery go, we are excited that its mission will live on under different ownership. The Northside Planning Council will take over operation of the bakery and training program and will continue helping those unemployed in our community gain the experience and skills to secure employment and earn a living wage.
Thank you for your partnership with us to help transform lives.
